The Saving Slog

Happy February!

January is finally over, and what a long month that was. But now that is has gone, I feel as though it has slipped away from us. I was so preoccupied with how long it felt, that by the time February came around, I stopped to think just how quick Christmas passed and we found ourselves here.

One month down also means one month less to save, which is a very scary thought. The Christmas period stole a lot of my savings, and its been pretty difficult to get back on track. Making my lists has been a great way to get back in the swing of things, and so far, they’re all telling me that I am heading in the right direction. I think it is piece of mind for me, making these lists, they help me focus on my end goal. Our STA adviser has given us a total to pay and an estimated good spend budget, so we have a rough idea of where we need to be at this point.

I know that a lot of people say that the beauty of backpacking is not having to plan, but I love it, and its ok that its my thing. I love having my savings goals, and I love knowing that, if anything, I am ahead of my target. I know that in the end, this is only going to make my trip better, so the saving slog is worth it.

I admire people who can save, it takes a lot of drive and focus. The end goal is a long and trying road, but the reward at the end makes it alllll ok. Everyone has their thing, their methods, their way of getting through it. Mine is lists, and planning, and basically to just keep this trip at the forefront of my mind.

I hope you all have a great February

Any saving tips would be great!

Thanks for reading – B x
